Hookd: I guess people are attending the real world, rather than IRC.IRC-junkie.org had an article some time ago, about IRC having been on the decline for years., and I guess we've all been seeing it too.
Many people now instead: - play online games. - flirt elsewhere. - chat on MSN Messenger etc. - choose to stay away, due to the many IRC attacks. - give up on trying to connect (Undernet changes servers more frequent than we change socks).
But maybe we should set a date/time instead, where we meet online? :-)
